Chorale group to celebrate 10th |

The Eastern Area Youth Chorale will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a “Decade of Song” concert at 7:30 p.m. May 24 at the CCAC Boyce performance hall in Monroeville.

Barbara L. Spiri, director and founder of the Plum-based group, will direct a group of 70 child and adult singers, including EAYC members, alumni and parents, church choralists and members of the Penn Hills Musical Alumni, who will be conducted by local musicians.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for students and includes a post-concert reception.

MonroevilleMaster gardener to speak Saturday

Susan Silverman, a Penn State master gardener from Westmoreland County, will speak at a free pond seminar at Elmer’s Aquarium in Monroeville at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Silverman will provide tips on how to have a pond that attracts wildlife and provides a garden with serene and tranquil characteristics.

A host of demonstrations will be presented at Round Hill Farm in Elizabeth Township on Saturday.

Soap-making and blacksmith demonstrations will be presented at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m., sheep shearing will be shown.

The Skyview Radio Society will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the society clubhouse on Turkey Ridge Road in Lower Burrell.

The society welcomes all amateur radio enthusiasts.

Penn HillsNew-To-You sale May 28, 29

Hebron United Presbyterian Church women will conduct a New-to-You sale on May 28 and 29 at the church, 10460 Frankstown Road in Penn Hills.

The sale’s first installment will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Its second will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s event also will include a bake sale.

Proceeds will benefit missions and scholarships.
