Citizens Bank collecting school supplies for needy children
Citizens Bank branches are collecting donations of school supplies to fill more than 3,800 backpacks the bank has purchased for local disadvantaged and homeless children. Pencils, tablets and other items can be brought to the banks through Aug. 8 for the Gear for Grades program. Citizens and its partners in the program will load the backpacks on two school buses on Aug. 18 at the bank's Downtown headquarters. They'll go to Allegheny County homeless shelters. Citizens also will distribute backpacks in Beaver, Butler, Erie, Washington and Westmoreland counties. This is the fifth year for the program, once called Tools for School.
