Civic Light Opera hosts Fit to be Plaid holiday fete
If seeing a present or two (or sixteen) with our name attached is a favorite guilty pleasure we are permitted to indulge ourselves in during the holiday season, then uncorking our week in the company of 125 of our nearest and dearest can easily be categorized as a close second.
On Monday, the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Guild and co-chairs Violet Gallo, Colleen Travis and Ann Baldrige welcomed us to LeMont for their Fit to be Plaid holiday fete, although we found it easier said than done to find an ensemble apropos of the theme.
“It’s hard to find anything plaid this season!” mused Jen Neubauer .
Eager to kiss-kiss dahling our way through a crowd that included Dolores Bold, Maryann Boehm, Norma Sobel , and Nadine Bognar , the majority of us were more than ready to ring in the revelry, although there were some who had to curb the merrymaking.
“I can’t stay very long. My flight leaves at 7 a.m …. brutal,” lamented CLO Executive Producer Van Kaplan , who was jet-setting to NYC and then Chicago the next morning.
What did he miss⢠Proof that the cool crooners of Forever Plaid (back by popular demand at the CLO Cabaret) could set more than just our hearts on fire.
“Before we sing, we are going to flambe the dessert!” laughed Joe Domencic, J.D. Daw, Chris Crouch and Marcus Stevens .
We spotted John and Judy Woffington; Bonnie Levine; Dani Grego; Joe and Lisa Gaydos; Laura Penrod Kronk; Dee Dee Troutman; Dolly and Jack Warwick; Bonnie
Walker; Lucas and Renee Piatt; Rene Imperatore and Larry Schrecongost ; and Dena Zaimes .
