Closer to closure
I was contacted by a number of friends and past co-workers from Fort Bragg after publication of the news story “American soldier charged in Iraq killings of deaf, unarmed teens” (Nov. 15 and TribLIVE.com) by Carl Prine and Jim Wilhelm about military charges being filed against Sgt. 1st Class Michael Barbera in the deaths of two deaf Iraqi brothers. I was Staff Sgt. Ken Katter’s case manager and friend during this time while I was assigned at the Warrior Transition Unit.
I want to thank you for supporting Ken and bringing this heartbreaking story public. It’s been a long time coming. My heart goes out to Ken, his wife, Patty, and his family. I hope now he can have some closure with this.
