Leechburg Elks

The Leechburg Elks Lodge has had a busy time recently with several events occurring. Among them:

• The annual Mother's Day Dinner and Awards Ceremony with a buffet dinner served by Cicero's Catering was held in the lodge ballroom. The event was opened by Exalted Ruler William Carroll who welcomed the crowd then introduced Mary Jendrey, executive director of the Alle-Kiski Learning Center who delivered the invocation. After dinner, the lodge officers presented the special Elks "Tribute to Mothers." Also receiving awards from Exalted Ruler William Carroll were: Rosemarie Shea, Elk of the year; Ronald Wylie, Esquire, officer of the year; and Michael Gerheim, the citizenship award. Special exalted ruler certificates of appreciation were presented to the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, who have assisted with many of the special events held during the year; and this year's top membership recruiter, Stanley Zydonik. Betty Kanas, president of the auxiliary accepted the award for the auxiliary.

• Leechburg Elks 377 recently held its annual Firecracker Dinner and Grand Drawing in the lodge ballroom. The event is held yearly and helps the lodge continue with its charitable activities, such as the Home Service Program, ENF, Drug Awareness, the Hoop Shoot, and many more. A buffet dinner was prepared and served by lodge members featuring roast beef and chicken and was followed by the drawing.
