The British rock band Coldplay is not breaking up after all.

Singer Chris Martin's comments at the Brit Awards earlier this week were widely interpreted to mean the band was breaking up.

In accepting an award at the London ceremony, Martin said it would be "a long, long time" before Coldplay would be an awards ceremony again, prompting nationwide headlines of a split, the Guardian said Friday.

However, the band's recording label, EMI, released a statement Thursday saying: "Coldplay are not quitting."

The record company said the band will tour until July, then "continue working on new material."
