A small plane crashed on White Horse Mountain, west of Ouray, Colo., killing three men and one woman, the Denver Post reported Saturday.

The Civil Air Patrol, the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force, announced Friday the discovery of scattered wreckage of the single-engine Cessna and the remains of all four people who had been aboard. The identities of the victims were not immediately made public.

The CAP said the plane was reported missing Thursday when it failed to arrive in Elbert, Colo., from Cables, Calif. The Colorado Civil Air Patrol dispatched five planes and 20 volunteers to search the area, but once the wreckage was discovered, terrain and avalanche hazards prevented teams from reaching the bodies.
