The Brighton Heights section of the North Side is getting $3 million worth of new natural gas pipeline, through a Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc. project.

The utility plans to replace more than 10,000 feet of steel pipe with modern plastic pipe. The project will involve more than 300 customers and will be completed late this year. Work started on Brandon Road last month.

Additional phases will include Davis, Massachusetts, Fleming, Termon, Oswego, Hawatha, Wilksboro and Elmhurst avenues and Wealth and Marmaduke streets. The company will notify residents about shutoffs, and address a Brighton Heights Citizen Federation meeting on March 10.
