Comcast introduces a voice-control remote
Comcast has released a voice-control remote and what it calls its Xfinity Share app, which allows users to live-stream photos or videos from the Internet or their smartphones.
Both are available to customers with its X1 control platform.
The new remote is aimed at customers with visual or mechanical difficulties so they can navigate controls vocally by asking for shows, channels or types of programming. It is free and new customers will get one at installation while existing customers can get one at stores or order one online.
The app is available to all Xfinity Triple Play customers with X1 DVR set-top boxes. Senders also can share photos or videos with other customers who also have Triple Play/X1 capability.
In that manner, Xfinity Share allows users to send live streams to other Comcast customers.
