The Brownfield Community Center has done it again! It has made even more improvements to the outside pavilion area with the addition of a ceiling over the pavilion and new restroom facilities as well as a utility room equipped with a double sink and refrigerator for your convenience. Currently the pavilion can seat 150, but more tables are under construction as we speak. The parking lot has also been repaved. There will soon be a number of new electrical outlets for using electric roasters, coffee pots, etc., and believe it or not, a number of new improvements are planned before the summer season. Did you know that you can rent the pavilion for $100 per day for a family reunion, birthday party, graduation party, etc.⢠To inquire about renting this beauty, contact the Brownfield Community Center at 724-529-2930.
Keep in mind that the Community Center holds a weekly bingo game at 6:45 p.m. every Monday to help raise money to keep the building up and running. Volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in Bingo, the cost for the Bingo games is $11 for the first package and $5 for each additional package. If you would like to volunteer, just stop by the community center or call 724-529-2930, and I'm sure that they'll find something for you to do.
On Saturday, Rudy Stanish, the "Omelet King," will prepare his world-famous omelets at the East Liberty United Presbyterian Church in Vanderbilt. The church is located along Route 201, just across from the Scottdale Bank & Trust building. Breakfast will be served from 9-11 a.m.; admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 through 12. Children under age 3 are served free. Along with omelets, the menu will include ham, potatoes, toast, honey buns, juice and coffee. All are welcome to attend. Stanish has traveled all over the world making his luscious omelets and now, even in his elderly years, he continues to do what he loves best. I think it's worth the price of admission just to watch this elderly gentlemen display his talents.
