Community’ turned out for benefit
I have often sat and wondered what the word “community” meant. Well, as of Saturday, Nov. 1, I shall wonder no more. My question was answered in St. Vladimir’s social hall in Arnold. There was a dance for David Kuffel and his family. (David has been diagnosed with inorperable brain cancer). The feeling was indescribable.
The amount of kindness that was shown this family goes beyond what words can say. Many merchants donated gifts for a Chinese auction, businesses supplied beverages and entertainment, people brought food, there were others that helped in the kitchen. It was simply unbelievable.
Usually when people talk about New Kensington or Arnold, it’s about drugs or violence or bad test scores. Well, not me. As I looked around that room and watched people eating, laughing, dancing and praying together, I felt an overwhelming amount of genuine love.
That’s “community” and I am so proud to be a part of it.
