Con artist collects scam donations in Belle Vernon, police warn
An unknown con artist, purporting to be a Belle Vernon resident, has been fraudulently soliciting donations for two organizations since April, police said. Southwest Regional Police said a woman has been traveling around the Belle Vernon area in a white vehicle, claiming to be Jennifer Sinsley, 38, and using Sinsley's identity to solicit donations for the Belle Vernon Area School District and the Mon Valley Sports Association. Sinsley contacted police, saying the woman does not have permission to use her name or to represent either organization. Police believe the woman started the scam around April and has collected about $140. Police said the woman is about 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs about 240 pounds and possibly has blonde hair. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-929-8484.
