Three Connellsville residents were ordered held Tuesday in the Fayette County Jail for allegedly arranging the robbery of a Connellsville-area woman at a former roller-skating and ice rink.
The 25-year-old woman told police that she was summoned about 5 p.m. to meet an acquaintance in the parking lot of the Ice Mine on West Crawford Avenue in Dunbar Township.
State police at Uniontown said when the victim went there, a vehicle carrying Sean M. Ruby, 23, Robert E. Hunter Jr., 20, and Kelly R. Bageant, 19, all of Connellsville, arrived and entered her car.
The alleged victim said she was assaulted and choked in her vehicle by the trio, who fled after forcibly grabbing her purse and cellphone. She said that when she got out of her car in an attempt to retrieve her purse, she was struck and knocked to the ground by Bageant, and then struck by the vehicle as the trio’s car exited the parking lot.
Trooper Craig Soltis said when he interviewed the victim, she had multiple bruises and abrasions, including a bloody lip and abrasions on her neck and right wrist.
The victim said she often provides rides to Hunter, who initially telephoned her. The three men were charged by police with robbery, conspiracy, simple assault and theft.
Ruby, Hunter and Bageant turned themselves in to police.
The trio alleged that the altercation ensued as the victim was selling them Subutex, a semi-synthetic opioid used to treat addiction to narcotic pain medications. She is not charged.
Bageant and Ruby were held after failing to post $30,000 bond each, while Hunter was jailed after failing to post $35,000 bond.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled Dec. 9 before Connellsville District Judge Ronald Haggerty.
