A federal judge on Friday sentenced a convicted pedophile from Washington County to nearly 17 years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Gary Stoneking, 33, of Marianna was convicted in June in a related state case of raping an 11-year-old child, prosecutors say.
Police arrested Stoneking after the victim told them that he had sexually assaulted her and had shown her child pornography on his computer, prosecutors say. Police found more than 600 images in his possession.
U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti, who also sentenced Stoneking to lifetime probation, pointed out that he has been convicted of raping two children. State court records show that Stoneking is awaiting sentencing in Washington County on those convictions.
