An autopsy has determined a 28-year-old man found dead outside a Butler County bar wasn't assaulted, but the coroner and state police were still trying to determine how he died.
Slippery Rock police suspect Aaron Cook, of Harrisville, may have died from hypothermia, because they believe he may have lain outside in sub-freezing temperatures for as long as 19 hours after drinking heavily.
Cook's family says he didn't return home Tuesday night, and employees at the Ginger Hill Tavern started looking for cook Wednesday evening. A bouncer found Cook's body about 100 feet from the tavern.
State police Lt. Eric Helmick says footprints in the snow suggest Cook may have fallen down twice outside the bar, and suggest he was walking alone at the time.
