The Fayette County coroner’s office has identified the man who authorities say jumped off the Lane Bane Bridge in Brownsville on Tuesday night as Dion J. Thompson, 37, of Monessen.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:23 p.m., a coroner’s spokesman said. He jumped from the bridge around 9 p.m.

Thompson’s body was found in the area of Albany Road. The Lane Bane Bridge spans the Monongahela River between Fayette and Washington counties.

The coroner’s office said Thompson suffered blunt-force injuries. Toxicology test results were pending, the official said.

It was not known whether Thompson left a suicide note. Efforts to reach Brownsville police were unsuccessful.
