An autopsy has disclosed that an Indiana University of Pennsylvania freshman likely died of a pre-existing seizure disorder, Indiana County Coroner Michael A. Baker said.

Baker said the autopsy confirmed drugs played no role in the death of 19-year-old Megan Marie Peth, of Renfrew, Butler County. Peth was discovered dead in her dormitory room at Esch Hall about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Baker suspects a seizure disorder ultimately caused the teenager's death. Neuropathologic studies will be done, he said.

"The final cause of death will be determined at that point, but there is no doubt this is a natural death," Baker said.

An "insignificant" amount of alcohol was found, but it did not contribute to Peth's death, he said.

The Martin Funeral Home in Butler is in charge of arrangements.
