Costumes offend
During the past week, my husband and I have been taking our 10-year-old daughter shopping for a Halloween costume. We were really stunned by the "pornification" of the outfits on display.
Do people really dress up their little girls in those suggestive outfits⢠What was most offensive to us were the shameful "Priest and Pregnant Nun" costumes for couples, along with the "Naughty Nun" costume, complete with mini-dress and fishnet stockings. As Catholics, we were obviously offended and insulted.
It is so acceptable in this society to blatantly ridicule the Catholic and Christian faith. Is it because we do and say nothingâ¢
It is a good thing that we truly are the "religion of peace." One cannot help but wonder what would happen to the owners or employees of the costume shops if the Muslim faith -- there was not one Muslim cleric costume or burqa outfit -- were toyed with and disrespected with the same fervor.
There would be some severed heads and they would not be decorations.
