A Murrysville couple sued dietary-supplement retailer General Nutrition Corp. earlier this week, saying a product containing the recently banned substance ephedrine caused her husband's heart damage in 2002.

According to the suit, George M. Just was taken to the hospital on Aug. 25, 2002, and later diagnosed with a damaged heart.

The suit stated that GNC knew or should have known that ephedrine was dangerous and had caused deaths.

The suit was assigned to Westmoreland County Judge William J. Ober, who has not yet scheduled a hearing.
