Cyclones open softball action

The Connellsville Cyclones recently wrapped up their first six games of the season, compiling a 3-3 record.

Pittsburgh Spirit 5, Connellsville 1

Tommi Nickelson doubled and Caitlyn Secrest singled twice with a run scored, but the Cyclones lost to the Pittsburgh Spirit in their first game of the season. Erica Bartholow struck out five and took the loss.

Connellsville 7, Canonsburg Lady Knights 2

Cassie Show singled twice, tripled and scored two runs to lead the Cyclones to a win. Brooke Hoffer and Tommi Nickelson each doubled, singled and scored a run. Alexa Falo and Caitlyn Secrest each added a double. Show also pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine.

Connellsville 4, Metro Express 1

Brooke Hoffer homered and singled, and Cassie Show singled twice and scored twice, as Connellsville knocked off the Metro Express. Ashleigh Peck had a triple. Erica Bartholow struck out six and posted the win.

Philadelphia Spirit 8, Connellsville 1

Cassie Show homered to account for Connellsville’s only run. Show struck out five and took the loss.

Pittsburgh Lady Road Runners 7, Connellsville 6

Cassie Show homered and scored two runs, but Connellsville was defeated at the Metro Express Tournament. Ashleigh Peck singled twice and scored twice. Alexa Falo singled twice and scored a run. Tommi Nickelson belted a pair of doubles. Caitlyn Secrest fanned one and took the loss.

Connellsville 3, Waynesburg Thunder 0

Ashleigh Peck singled twice, as Connellsville defeated Waynesburg. Cassie Show, Alexa Falo and Courtney Ritenour each scored a run for the Cyclones. Caitlyn Secrest struck out nine batters and posted the win.

Bullskin Little League, Minor Division

Speedy Meedy 4, Bud Murphy’s 1

Matthew McFadden smacked a pair of singles and Seth McFadden doubled, as Speedy Meedy defeated Bud Murphy’s. Seth McFadden struck out eight and was the winning pitcher. Tyler Henry cracked a pair of doubles for Bud Murphy’s. Brock Bonadio fanned nine and took the loss.

Bruner Insurance 3, Bud Murphy’s 2

Ryan Burkholder ripped two singles in the Bruner Insurance victory over Bud Murphy’s. Steven White and Seth Bruner combined for 10 strikeouts, with White gaining the win. Brock Bonadio doubled for Bud Murphy’s. Bonadio and Tyler Henry combined for 14 strikeouts, with Henry taking the loss.
