New Mexico artist Andrea Polli stands in front of her digital-media installation 'Particle Falls' at the debut of the artwork in Downtown on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. Taking readings from the air monitor mounted on the building across the street , the piece provides a real-time visualization of air quality at the location, sending a cascade of blue lights cascading down the side of the Benedum Center, which appears to sparkle as fine particulate matter is detected in the air. Scientists at the Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies at Carnegie Mellon University will use the air quality data generated by the installation for research.
