Volunteer firefighters douse the charred remains of a home at 417 Hotel Road in Wilpen, Ligonier Twp., Thursday morning. The fire apparently was caused by an electrical problem in the kitchen of the home owned by Tom and Marti Sleasman, said Wilpen fire Chief Michael J. DiRinaldo. Marti Sleasman had driven their daughter to school and her husband was at work, the chief said. Their son was on the second floor getting dressed for school when he smelled smoke, jumped onto a porch roof, then to the ground, DiRinaldo said. The boy ran to a neighbor, who reported the fire at 7:30 a.m. Flames were going through the windows when the fire was reported. A state police fire marshal investigated. The house was not insured, the chief said on Nov. 14, 2013.
