California (Pa.) got a double dose of good news when the Vulcans landed not only Temple transfer quarterback Greg Dapper but also his younger brother, Bryan.

Bryan Dapper, a standout receiver for Keystone Oaks, followed the lead of his brother when he committed to California (Pa.) on Tuesday. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder had 33 receptions for 668 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

He was named first-team All-Big Seven Conference and to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review All-Class AAA team. Greg Dapper left Temple after taking a redshirt this past season.

“Whenever my brother transferred there, that sealed my decision,” Bryan Dapper said. “They're definitely turning the program around.”

YSU NABS TWO

Youngstown State received commitments from a pair of WPIAL standouts when Woodland Hills linebacker Y'Hoshua Murray and Beaver Falls receiver Rory Berry chose the Penguins.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Murray was the leading tackler for the Wolverines, who won the WPIAL Class AAAA championship and advanced to the PIAA final. Berry led the Tigers with 35 receptions for 544 yards and four touchdowns. He was named first-team All-Mid American Conference.

HENRY TO VISIT MARSHALL

West Allegheny's Dionte Henry recently received a scholarship offer from Marshall and will make an official visit there this weekend.

Henry, a 6-foot, 200-pound running back-defensive back, also is receiving interest from Toledo and has offers from fellow Mid-American Conference schools Akron, Eastern Michigan and Kent State, as well as Division I-AA Hofstra, Massachussetts, Villanova and Youngstown State.

BETHEL LINEMAN COMMITS

Bethel Park's Brad Stewart will play football at I-AA William & Mary next season. The 6-3, 275 pound offensive tackle was a First Team All Quad North selection. Stewart chose William & Mary over Richmond and Bucknell. He also considered several Ivy League schools.

"I really liked William & Mary for the academics," Stewart said. "That was what I was concerned about because I want to study computer science. Their football team is good. They had a down year last year at 6-5 but won the conference the year before."

Stewart was key in leading Bethel Park to the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs where the Black Hawks lost to eventual champion Woodland Hills in the quarterfinals. Bethel Park coach Jeff Metheny said Stewart was one of the hardest workers on the squad.

"He is so strong and such a great athlete," Metheny said. "I am so proud of him. He deserves everything he's gotten because he has worked for it."
