WEST POINT, N.Y. -- A published report Friday said former Nebraska football coach Frank Solich could be named Army's next coach, but Solich's daughter said he's not interested in the job.
The Times-Herald Record of Middletown, citing anonymous sources, reported that Solich could be tapped to take over the struggling program.
However, Cindy Dalton, Solich's daughter, denied the report, saying her father has not accepted the post.
The Omaha World-Herald, also citing an anonymous source, reportedthat Solich turned down the Army job. The newspaper reported that Solich was offered the position Thursday night.
Bob Beretta, assistant athletic director at Army, would not comment on whether Solich had been offered the job. He also refused to say where the selection process stands.
"When we have selected a coach, we will announce it at a press conference," he said. "Until that time, we're not commenting on where the search is. We hope to have a coach in place by the end of this month."
In October, Army fired coach Todd Berry after posting a 5-35 record in just over three seasons. He was replaced by interim coach John Mumford.
Solich, meanwhile, was fired by Nebraska late last month after six seasons. He compiled a 58-19 record in that time, including a record of 9-3 this season.

West Virginia sold nearly 21,000 tickets while No. 24 Maryland sold more than 17,000.
