Gregory W. Gray, a native of Dayton, has been appointed the new chancellor of the Riverside Community College District in Riverside, Calif. The Riverside District comprises three colleges, Riverside City College, Moreno Valley and Narco, and has a total enrollment of 40,000 students. Gray will begin his new job on July 1.
Gray graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, obtained a master's degree from Pitt and a doctorate from Penn State. He is currently the president of the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College, and prior to Miami spent eight years as the CEO for Penn State Fayette in Uniontown.
"It is no secret that the district has gone through an extended search process for a new chancellor," said Virginia Blumenthal who chairs the board of trustees at Riverside. "But from the start, this board stated very plainly that we would search until we found the person we believed could lead this district to the next level of excellence. We found that person in Gregory W. Gray."
Gray has been married to Donna Crouch Gray of Butler, for more than 39 years. They have two grown children, Christine Gray Tinnesz, who is professor at the University of Buffalo and Greg Jr., who is a venture capitalist. They also have three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Casey, and Hayden.
Gray is the son of Eileen Gray of Dayton and the late Leonard "Bud" Gray, who was the former postmaster of Dayton.
