Mr. Scaife, your appeal to preserve Planned Parenthood in your column " Don't defund Planned Parenthood " (Feb. 27 and TribLIVE.com) because "abortions are a minor aspect" of its "mission" is, at best, misguided. At worst, it reflects an attitude that the killing of the innocent unborn is acceptable and may even be overlooked if the agency promoting and executing it is perceived as doing other good works within and for the community.
This is the same argument that allowed the German populace to overlook the wholesale extermination of their Jewish neighbors, because their elimination was for the "greater good." The only difference is that the Germans at least had the courage to commit their exterminations out in the open; our holocaust is a silent and largely hidden one.
You may deceive yourself into believing that Planned Parenthood is a force for good in our communities. The truth does not bear this out.
This is an organization that was conceived in evil, for the purpose of eugenics and the "purification" of our population. It continues to carry out its mission to spill the blood of our children.
Any perceived good you think it accomplishes does not outweigh its promotion and execution of abortions; on the contrary, even a single abortion negates all else.
Our tax dollars should not be used to support this abomination.
