A bridge replacement project on Keystone Park Road in Derry Township will begin today and continue through May 15.

The bridge was closed to traffic in August. The project will include replacement of the 46-foot structure with two vehicular lanes and a 6-foot-wide pedestrian trail.

A four-mile detour will allow motorists to access the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources office on Keystone Park Road, but drivers traveling to New Derry must continue south on Route 981, turn left onto Strawcutter Road and continue to the intersection with Keystone Park Road.

Motorists traveling from New Derry on Keystone Park Road can turn left onto Strawcutter Road to Route 981, then turn right to continue to New Alexandria or left to head to Latrobe.
