A St. Clair Village man was hospitalized Saturday after he was injured in an incident involving Mt. Oliver police and his brother at a birthday party at the borough fire hall. Charles Dixon, 39, of St. Clair Village, was taken to Mercy Hospital, Uptown, where he remained last night. The hospital would not release information on his condition. Dixon’s brother, Gregory, 45, of Fifth Avenue, Uptown, was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault, public drunkenness and failing to disperse. Mt. Oliver police Chief Frank Mosesso said Charles Dixon also would be charged with aggravated assault. One of the party-goers, James Henderson, 26, of St. Clair Village, said he saw police officers beating Charles and Gregory Dixon at around 1 a.m. yesterday at the party. Mosesso denied that Mt. Oliver police beat the Dixons. “The two men were being combative and were resisting arrest,” Mosesso said. Allegheny County detectives are investigating, the chief said. According to the arrest report filed last night, two Mt. Oliver officers were assigned to the party of about 85 to 90 people at the Mt. Oliver Fire Hall, a few storefronts down from the police station along Brownsville Road. A woman at the party asked police to confront Gregory Dixon, who she said was causing a disturbance in the food line. The officers told Gregory Dixon to sit down and he refused, according to the affidavit of probable cause. According to the affidavit, the two brothers were drunk and started to fight police when Gregory Dixon jumped on the back of one of the officers. Bystander Henderson said Charles Dixon did not fight police, but only tried to stop his brother from fighting. No one was available from the Allegheny County police to comment on the investigation.
