Diagnosing politically

Former Allegheny County Coroner Cyril H. Wecht’s letter “Politics vs. forensics” (Aug. 27 and TribLIVE.com), calling for China to release toxicology test results in the controversial death of British businessman Neil Heywood so that “political machinations” can be revealed, is laughable.

In a letter published more than seven years ago, when he was still coroner (“Arch-terrorist Arafat — Letter 1,” Nov. 16, 2004, and TribLIVE.com), publicity-seeking celebrity pathologist Wecht politically diagnosed the most likely cause of Yasser Arafat’s death as AIDS based on no test results and from thousands of miles away.
