Dickson receives doctor of audiology degree
Avada Hearing and Balance Centers, operating subsidiary of Hearing Healthcare Management, Inc., (HHM), has announced that clinical director of the Pennsylvania region, Mark T. Dickson, received his doctor of audiology degree from the George S. Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University on Dec. 15.
Dr. Dickson has been the clinical director at Avada since October 2001, and is currently adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh.
He joined Avada in 2001, and has had a long career in audiology, which began when he received his bachelor of science in speech and hearing therapy from what was then Edinboro State College in 1971, and his master of arts in audiology from Western Illinois University in 1975.
Early in his career he was a speech therapist for schoo-age children in Kane. He went on to become the director of Adult Services for Youngstown Hearing and Speech, responsible for staff supervision as well as grant proposal writing. Dr. Dickson was also audiologist and director for Noble House Otolaryngology in New Castle. He has continued his education and accomplishments by completing his doctor of audiology degree.
He is a Pennsylvania licensed audiologist and received the certification of clinical competency as an audiologist from the American Speech Language Hearing Association in 1975. He is also a fellow in the American Academy of Audiology.
Avada Hearing and Balance Centers operates 12 locations with 14 employees in the Western Pennsylvania area according to Russell Hearn, president, including in the Butler Consumer Building at 240 Butler Road in Kittanning.
