Dining news: Burgatory opens new burger spot in Homestead

Burgatory, with existing locations in Fox Chapel, Robinson and Consol Energy Center, opened a third location April 26 at the Waterfront in Homestead.

The new location will be directly across from the Loews Waterfront Theater and feature all the big burgers and unique shakes the local chain is known for.

Another Burgatory is planned for the Blue Spruce shopping center in Murrysville.

Burgatory kitchen hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The Carlton

The Carlton Restaurant, 500 Grant St., Downtown, will host a Rivetto wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 7.

Enrico Rivetto will present his world-class wines paired with Carlton cuisine. The Rivetto family of Alba (Piemonte) has been making outstanding wines since 1902. Enrico, a fourth-generation winemaker, began working in the fields and the cellar with his father, Sergio, when he was just a young boy. His wines can be found in 30 countries.

Cost is $119 per person excluding tax and gratuity.

The restaurant also will host a Best of Italy Tre Bicchieri Award Winners wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 30. Stan “The Wine Man” Lalic will return for his 39th “Best of Italy” dinner at The Carlton. Guests will taste wines from Elena Fucci, Basilicata, Palari from Sicily, Sardus Patter from Sardegna and Oasi Degli Angeli, whose Kurni was declared Italy's greatest wine in 2010.

Cost is $109 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.
