Wines of Chile and the Omni William Penn, 530 William Penn Place, Downtown, are featuring ¡Destinación Chile!, a comprehensive program of Chilean food, wine and culture, through Dec. 31.

Omni chefs trained in Chile and at the Culinary Institute of America. Returning to their Omni kitchens, these chefs have built a menu that captures the rustic character of Chilean culture through signature foods, wines and .

Highlights include sopa de choclo conpino de champinones, a corn soup with mushroom, acorn squash, hard-cooked egg and basil; bacalao con tomatican, seared sea bass with braised tomato, yellow corn and cilantro salad; and the tres leches cake, spongecake soaked with three milks and served with fresh strawberries.

Overnight guests can enjoy an in-room video about travel in Chile and can upgrade with a welcome basket of Chilean food, wine and gifts.

McCormick & Schmick's

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants, with locations on the South Side and Downtown, want to thank U.S. military veterans.

On Nov. 8, veterans can choose a single complimentary lunch or dinner entree, including options such as buttermilk fried shrimp, cedar-planked or grilled salmon, parmesan-crusted chicken, tender beef medallions, beer-battered fish and chips, Romano-chicken chopped salad, and McCormick's cheeseburger, among others.

Whiskey Smash!

To celebrate the region's heritage as one of the world's premier pre-Prohibition distilling destinations, West Overton Village & Museums, 109 West Overton Road, Scottdale, will host “Whiskey Smash! A Celebration of Local and Regional Craft Spirits,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19.

Guests will enjoy tastings of crafted whiskey and moonshine from at least four regional distilleries, plus live music, a cash bar, food and whiskey desserts.

Tickets are $30, $25 in advance. All proceeds benefit West Overton Village & Museums.

Girl Friday Cooking Co.

Girl Friday Cooking Co., owned and operated by Peters resident Gretchen McNary, will celebrate its grand opening from 3 to 11 p.m. Nov. 7.

Girl Friday Cooking specializes in a wide range of Paleo dishes, which are full of lean protein, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and free of artificial or processed ingredients.

McNary launched Girl Friday Cooking in December 2014, when she began cooking for people using her own kitchen and supplies. Today, she averages between 170 to 200 orders per week, which led her to seek out the larger commercial space.

Her customer's favorites include her Paleo Chinese Chicken Salad, Paleo lasagna, and Korean Jop Chae, a Korean noodle dish made with sweet potato noodles, fresh vegetables and thinly sliced filet.

Also taking part in the Girl Friday Cooking grand-opening festivities is Running Om Green, a local company that specializes in making healthy juices and drinks for people of all ages. Amy Gordon, who founded the business and will be sharing business space with Girl Friday Cooking, will be at the event, serving juice samples.

Thanksgiving at the Fairmont

There will be a Thanksgiving brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at Habitat at the Fairmont, 510 Market St., Downtown.

The menu will feature traditional holiday dishes, such as herb-roasted tom turkey and old-fashioned bread stuffing, as well as breakfast items and pastry chef James Wroblewski's dessert buffet.

Brunch is $79 per person, plus tax. Children age 5 and under eat for free. Brunch for ages 6 to 12 is $39.

Chef Jason Dalling also will offer turkey to-go dinners, including all of the fixings and dessert, plus reheating instructions and a “turkey hotline.” Dinners are available for six people at $175 plus tax or 12 people at $350 plus tax. Orders can be placed through Nov. 21, and picked up Thanksgiving Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
