Dining news: Trapuzzano Italian Chophouse and Martini Lounge now open in Shadyside

Trapuzzano Italian Chophouse and Martini Lounge is now open at 5533 Walnut St. in Shadyside.

The family-ow ned restaurant specializes in classic Italian fare and features steaks, seafood and veal and lamb chops. The lounge offers a premier wine list, featuring Italian imports and California favorites.

While the eatery is up and running, an official grand opening is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 22.

Notion closed

Notion Restaurant, the East Liberty fine-dining restaurant offering the modern cuisine of chef Dave Racicot, is closed and available for sale, according to Specialty Group.

Restaurant Broker veteran Terri Sokoloff, president of Specialty Bar & Restaurant Brokers, a division of Specialty Group, has been appointed to handle the transaction.

The building was renovated in 2012 with a custom open-kitchen, newly equipped and built-out and seating for 30. Specialty Group has the option to sell the business with or without the liquor license.

Notion opened in 2013.

Five Points Artisan Bakeshop

Five Points Artisan Bakeshop is open at 6520 Wilkins Ave. in Squirrel Hill.

The small shop specializes in products made with local ingredient and features an array of breads, baguettes, quiche, tarts and other items. It also serves coffee.

Hours are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.

Rock and Rye

Wigle Whiskey, 2401 Smallman St. in the Strip District, will host a Rock and Rye Cocktail Class at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14.

Participants will discover this age-old cocktail classic with Wigle's bartender extraordinaire Wes Shonk, learn the history of the Rock and Rye, craft a couple of cocktails, and take a production tour of the distillery.

Cost is $35.
