Here's a look at the number of doe licenses remaining, as of Thursday, in each of the 10 counties that make up the southwest region of the state. In parentheses is the total number of licenses that were available at the start of the application period.

  • Allegheny — 33,000 (34,000)

  • Armstrong — 12,721 (23,000)

  • Beaver — 10,600 (13,100)

  • Cambria — 1,600 (12,800)

  • Fayette — 4,635 (13,500)

  • Greene — 14,267 (19,100)

  • Indiana — 11,000 (22,000)

  • Somerset — 1,977 (17,600)

  • Washington — 25,739 (31,900)

  • Westmoreland — 15,000 (29,000)

  • Non-residents can begin applying for doe licenses by mail Aug. 19. Resident hunters can apply for unsold licenses by mail Aug. 26, the same day that they go on sale over the counter in special regulations counties, including Allegheny.
