Drug raid nets 2 suspects in Kittanning
Armstrong Narcotics Enforcement Team agents arrested two men it described as mid-level drug dealers during a raid at 1521 Johnston Ave. in Kittanning on Oct. 20.
The arrests were announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Matthew Mojica, 19, of Strabane (Washington County), and Justin Weston, 22, of Homestead (Allegheny County), were placed in Armstrong County Jail on drug charges.
County District Attorney Scott J. Andreassi said in the release that the raid was the result of a month-long investigation into suspected drug activity at that address. Inside the Johnston Avenue home, ARMNET agents found "a significant amount" of heroin and marijuana, he said.
"I am very proud of the agents of ARMNET," said Andreassi. "(Thursday's) raid shows our continuous commitment to address the illegal drug problem in our streets and neighborhoods."
Both men were jailed on $50,000 bail, and preliminary hearings are scheduled for Nov. 1. Weston faces charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy. Mojica faces the same charges and an additional charge of tampering with evidence.
Also assisting ARMNET agents were police officers from Kittanning and Ford City and the state attorney general's office.
No officials involved in the investigation could be reached Wednesday for additional details on the arrests.
