FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP — Charleroi dominated East Allegheny in every aspect of their Interstate Conference tilt Friday night.

Every aspect, except for the final score, where East Allegheny prevailed, 18-13.

East Allegheny scored on touchdown passes of 80 and 72 yards from Kyle Whipple to Shawn Adair and on a 38- yard run from Chauncey Williams.

The Wildcats ran 30 other offensive plays, totaling only 51 yards. "Defensively, it was those few plays," Charleroi coach Luke Mollis said. "But our penalties are what did us in. We could have been up big at the half."

Charleroi was penalized 10 times for 82 yards with eight coming in the first half.

Six of those penalties were for false starts or illegal procedure. Three other times, the Cougars were called for holding downfield or for illegal blocking. "We shot ourselves in the foot," Mollis said. "We moved the ball all night but hurt ourselves."

Charleroi finished with 322 yards of total offense, led by Quentin Briggs.

The senior back finished with 207 yards on 36 carries and a touchdown.

The Cougars took the lead on the second play from scrimmage as sophomore quarterback Eric Johnson raced untouched for a 55-yard score. Mitch Woytovich's extra point gave the hosts a 7-0 lead 29 seconds into the game.

On the first play of the second quarter, Whipple hit Adair on an 80- yard bubble screen.

Casey Holshue's extra point attempt went wide right and the Wildcats trailed 7-6 at halftime.

The Wildcats took their first lead at 10:05 of the third quarter when Williams went on his scoring jaunt, but the ensuing two point conversion attempt failed, giving the Wildcats a 12-7 lead.

Charleroi came right back and drove 66 yards on 13 plays, with Briggs going in from 14 yards out but the Cougars also failed to convert on a two-point attempt. Charleroi led 13-12 with 4:14 left in the third quarter.

After both teams had drives stall, the Whipple-to-Adair connection burned Charleroi again and it ended up being the game-winning score. Tony Bristol gave the Cougars life on the ensuing kickoff as he returned it 70 yards to the Wildcat 20, but the Cougars could not capitalize as they turned the ball over on downs following back-to- back penalties.

Charleroi (1-3, 1-3) hosts undefeated Jeannette Friday with East Allegheny hosting Yough.
