East football team tops Laurel Highlands

Matt White scored a pair of touchdowns, including an 80-yard kickoff return to help the Connellsville Junior High East freshmen football team knock off Laurel Highlands, 35-7.

Anthony May, Tyler DeWitt and Spencer Mowry each scored a touchdown for East (2-2). White kicked five extra points.

Brandon Show, Brady Ritenour, Ty Wildey, Matt Williams, Ryan Ritenour, Nick Burkholder and Kris Johnston played well on defense.

Ringgold 6, East 0

Ringgold scored on its first possession of the game. White, May, Show, Mowry, Brady Ritenour and Adrian Mansberry played well for East.

Eighth-grade football

East 24, Laurel Highlands 14

Jason Basinger scored a pair of touchdowns, as East (2-2) beat Laurel Highlands.

Devon Geary and Jeremy Basinger each scored for East.

Junior high basketball

Beth-Center 37, Geibel 22

Krista Ermine and Peyton McIntyre each scored 10 points for the Lady Gators.
