East notes
Penn-Trafford senior Cindy Weir finished her WPIAL swimming career in championship fashion.
The WPIAL championships this past weekend at Pitt's Trees Pool was her showcase for the fourth-consecutive season. Weir won the 50-meter freestyle for the fourth time in her career and the 100 freestyle for the third time.
Weir was also part of the 200 medley relay that finished third and the 400 freestyle relay that finished fourth. Weir will be swimming both relays and her two freestyle events at the PIAA championships March 8 at Penn State.
Weir will be aiming toward completing a rare feat at Penn State, as she tries to win the 50 and 100 freestyles for the second consecutive season. Weir, who will swim at Maryland next season, has won four state gold medals in her career.
