After a one-year absence, the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association's East-West All-Star Game again will showcase some of the state's top high school seniors.
The game is May 6 at Gateway High School's Antimarino Stadium. After losing sponsorship, organizers canceled last year's event, which had been played annually in Altoona since 2001.
The host Gators will be well-represented with seven players on the West roster: linemen Avery Anderson, Ryan Doyle, Cody Conway and Anthony Rollins; running back Patrick Livsey; linebacker Haakim Oliver; and defensive back Brian Jones.
Other WPIAL seniors named to the 34-member West team are offensive linemen David Miller (Seneca Valley), Jordan Farrow (Central Valley), Clark McCready (Hollidaysburg) and Dom Martinelli (Montour); tight end Waylon Fink (Greensburg Salem); quarterback Perry Hills (Central Catholic); receivers Marzett Geter (Sto-Rox), Dontez Ford (Sto-Rox), Jamar Clark (McKeesport) and Darren Massey (Montour); defensive lineman Carvan Thompson (Clairton); linebackers Kevin Clarke (West Mifflin) and Mike Shansky (Blackhawk); defensive backs Chaz Whitaker (Penn Hills) and Nolan Harmotto (Hopewell); and kicker/punter Ryan Gralish (Mars). Imani Christian Academy defensive back Rahim Cathie also will compete.
