Ashley Metz

  • Age: 18

  • Grade: Senior at Woodland Hills High School

  • Residence: North Braddock

  • Family: Ashley is the daughter of Chuck and Amy Metz of North Braddock, she has an older brother Chad, 20, and a younger sister Amanda, 13.

  • Achievement: Ashley is one of two Woodland Hills High School seniors who have been named semi-finalists in the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation scholarship competition. She was chosen as one of 2,000 semi-finalists in a field of more than 100,000 applicants. Ashley is now eligible to be one of 252 finalists, 200 of which will receive a $4,000 scholarship and 52 of whom will get a $20,000 scholarship. Ashley carries a 4.5 grade point average this year and plans to attend Penn State Main Campus where she would like to major in English and Dance.

  • Quote: "I was excited just about everything ... about getting the letter and attending the luncheon ... that was pretty nice, too. I didn't have any expectations when I filled out the application to begin with so it was a nice surprise," Metz said.
