Anton Bubolz

  • Age: 12

  • Residence: Forest Hills

  • Family: Parents, Rebecca Glaser and Timothy Bubolz; twin sister, Nina

  • Education: Sixth-grader at Dickson Intermediate School in Swissvale, where he is enrolled in the Gifted And Talented Education program.

  • Noteworthy: His entry won the 18th annual Reading Is Fundamental Poster Contest in the Woodland Hills School District, and is under consideration for national recognition. His poster depicts two ants with cartoonesque brains in glass domes, as they sit on Mars reading a book. A yellow beam of light, which splits into a beam of red, white and blue, is emblazoned with the slogan "Together We Read." Anton has been awarded a new set of colored pencils and a sketch book.

  • Quote: "I was done with the first drawing, but I still had a lot of coloring in to do on it. But my art teacher gave me a big sheet of paper and told me to go ahead and put it on that. Then we shipped it off to Washington, D.C."
