Former Ecuadorian President Gustavo Noboa was placed under house arrest Monday, accused of mishandling billions of dollars in debt negotiations.

Noboa was notified of his arrest at his home in Guayaquil, Radio Sucre reported.

The former president is one of three former Ecuadorian presidents facing legal troubles.

In April, then-President Lucio Gutierrez was voted out office by Ecuadorian lawmakers on corruption charges. Gutierrez left the country and is currently in neighboring Brazil where he has been granted asylum.

Last month former President Abdala Bucaram also fled the country, going to Panama. Bucaram was removed from office in 1997 after a court and lawmakers found him mentally incompetent and guilty of corruption.
