Inside the Classroom: Flashlight Friday
First-grade teacher Debbie Walker, of Montour Elementary School, was browsing Pinterest one day when she came across a low-tech activity to help her students get engaged in reading: Flashlight Fridays. Every Friday, the first-graders spend a few minutes with a good book and read by flashlight. Walker says giving students the freedom to choose a comfortable spot in the room during the activity gets them excited about reading.
