ESS Insurance Group and NexTier Insurance Services have merged operations retroactive as of Jan. 1, becoming ESS NexTier Insurance Group, the companies announced last week.

“Together, these two organizations have been in business over 75 years, work with more than 30 carriers, and offer insurance products and services to meet just about any insurance need you may have,” said Charles Enchoz, originally of ESS, who is now chief executive officer of the merged group. “This means more options and expanded services for our customers.”

Rick Putnam, president and chief executive officers of NexTier, was named president and chief operating officer of the company.

In addition, the group has formed ESS Energy Group, a subsidiary that will specifically address needs of energy, oil, gas, mining and power industries. It will focus on energy insurance programs and risk consulting.

The business will maintain offices in Butler, Kittanning and Greensburg.
