Hunters ages 12 to 18 can enter the Game Commission's youth essay contest, but they have to do it soon.
Entries must be postmarked no later than Oct. 31. The contest theme is "Why I'm the future of hunting."
The grand prize winner in the junior division (ages 12-15) wins a trip to the Safari Club International's apprentice hunter camp at the YO Ranch in Texas, while the senior (ages 16-18) winner gets a trip to SCI's American Wilderness Leadership School in Jackson, Wyoming.
First prize in each division will be .50 caliber muzzleloader rifle from Knight.
Prizes will also be awarded for second through fourth place in each division. All entries receive a Game Commission "Working Together for Wildlife" embroidered patch.
Entrants must be Pennsylvania residents, have successfully completed a hunter-trapper education course and possess a current hunting or furtaker license.
Entries must include: full name; mailing address with zip code; telephone number and area code; year, state and county where hunter-trapper education course was successfully completed; current hunting or furtaker license number; and age and date of birth.
