Everson Borough Council will consider whether to replace a part-time police officer.

Council voted this week to take Charles Welsh off the payroll as a part-time officer. President Mike Banaszak said Welsh took a leave of absence to go to school and planned to return to his job but never did.

Council will ask police Chief Mark Price whether the borough needs to hire another part-time officer.

Auditor Jean Luczka gave council a positive report.

"(The audit) came out so great," she said. "It came out perfect as far as I'm concerned."

The borough ended 2011 in the black by $755; of that, $275 was from interest on a savings account.

Councilman George Sherbondy said new equipment at Centennial Park has been installed.

"The park got a new face," he said. "It looks pretty good. It looks clean."

Banaszak said the town clock is being customized and he will coordinate with the concrete and electrical technicians to have it installed.

"It's well on track to being up, installed and working by Memorial Day," he said. The Memorial Day service is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the veterans memorial along Brown Street.
