The Uniontown Post Office, 41 E. Fayette St., will extend its hours on Tuesday, tax day. Window service will be available to receive tax returns only from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The two collection boxes located in front of the post office will be collected at midnight and will be postmarked April 15. Uniontown is the only post office in Fayette County that will have these extended hours, post office officials said.

Cemetery flag holders
stolen, police say
Someone removed an unspecified number of war-memorial flag holders from a Fayette County cemetery.
State police at Uniontown said the markers were stolen from various gravestones at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Saltlick sometime between March 12 and April 12.
Police seek information
on air compressor theft
:State police are seeking help in tracking down the person, or persons, who stole an air compressor from a Fayette County business.
Police said the thieves would have needed a heavy-duty pickup or larger vehicle to remove the air compressor from Anthony Crane on Balsinger Road, German Township.
The 1986 Model 600 Rand air compressor has double axles and is yellow in color. It is eight feet wide, 12 1/2 feet long and eight feet tall.
Police said it had three stickers on it that are marked with the words “Century Steel.”
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Uniontown at 724-439-7111.
Vehicle crash injures 2
Two Fayette County men were injured in a vehicle crash early Sunday, state police said.
Waylon D. Shroyer, 22, and Paul Calvin Cole, 18, both of Mill Run, were traveling north in a 2001 red Dodge Neon on Route 711 near 2885 Springfield Pike in Springfield Township when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the southbound lane of Route 711, police said.
The vehicle struck a guard rail and continued to travel over an embankment. The vehicle landed on its driver’s side after striking a large tree.
Police did not identify the driver.
Shroyer and Cole were flown via medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment, police said. Shroyer was in serious condition and Cole was in fair condition yesterday, according a hospital spokesperson.
