A Detroit man who planned to sell counterfeit T-shirts at next week’s Super Bowl in MoTown made two mistakes. The man first paid $1,200 for the fake merchandise in New York and then he tried to re-enter the United States from Canada where he was stopped and searched by U.S. Customs officers. Officials found 432 T-shirts in the trunk of his car Sunday and he was arrested because none had a National Football League trademark logo. Customs officials tell the Detroit Free Press than more than $5 million in counterfeit merchandise was seized at last year’s Super Bowl. Thousands of fake items have turned up in Detroit ahead of Super Bowl XL on Feb. 5. © Copyright 2006 by United Press International
