Fox will promote the return of "Family Guy" to prime time with live script readings by the show's cast in Los Angeles and New York.
Seth McFarlane's Emmy Award-winning animated series premiered on Fox in 1999 and was canceled in 2002. When DVD sales of the show took off last year, the network decided to bring it back with new episodes.
"Family Guy Live!" will feature cast members live onstage reading a classic episode, as well as a live performance from the upcoming "Family Guy Live in Vegas" comedy album and a sneak peek at the first new "Family Guy" episode in more than three years, the network said Thursday.
The Los Angeles event will be held at the historic Wiltern LG theater on April 15. The New York show will be held at Town Hall on West 43rd Street over two nights, April 29 and 30.
"Family Guy" was nominated for four Emmys in 2002, winning for McFarlane's voiceover performance and for outstanding song and lyrics. When it was released on DVD, it sold 3.5 million units.
