Fanfare: Riverlife's Party at the Pier on Pittsburgh's North Shore
While wardrobe ensembles in an array of oceanic hues were no big surprise at Riverlife's Rhapsody in Blue-themed Party at the Pier, no one was expecting to see so many gents go bold in suits that showed off their gams.
“I was a little bit nervous,” admitted Luke Klein of his 1920s-inspired attire. “But then I figured, why not?”
A coterie of likeminded men managed to upstage most of the ladies during the Aug. 26 soiree, although there were some who had good reason to stick to basics.
“I wore shorts to an event once and I got yelled at,” said City Councilman Corey O'Connor with his wife, Katie. “Someone mailed me a suit afterward, anonymously. ... I have no idea who sent it because there was no return address. So, I've actually been sent suits because I've worn shorts.”
For those operating under less intense scrutiny of their fashion choices, it was an opportunity to try to stay cool on a balmy summer evening outside of the Rivers Casino.
“I actually pity everyone who isn't wearing them,” said Braddock Mayor John Fetterman, whose black Dickies have become his trademark. “You're going to see shorts in the winter, just wait.”
“I at least talked him into wearing blue shoes,” said his wife, Gisele.
On the list were co-chairs Mike and Ramsey Lyons and CarynRubinoff and CraigDunham, Riverlife president Vivien Li, Molly and Peter Blasier, Stephan Bontrager and Michael Kostiew, Rep. Dan and Debbie Frankel, Dallas Kawai and Melissa Maxwell Kawai,Lucas and Renee Piatt, Herky Pollock and Lisa Acquaviva, Hannah and Bradley Roth, Cyndy Mosites Walter and Chip Walter, Simone and Greg Lignelli, Terry and Pam Wirginis, Steve and Karri Guy andJames and Sara Guttman.
